Karol Górnowicz
Karol Górnowicz has been responsible for the development of Skriware as its CEO since 2017. During that time, he transformed Skriware from a start-up that manufactured 3D printers into the developer of an original educational ecosystem based on the STEAM teaching method. The system’s purpose is to support educational institutions in teaching 21st century skills by developing the digital competences of teachers and using methods that ignite the imagination and critical thinking of pupils.
STEAM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics] is a modern method of teaching by experiencing, deducing, problem solving and applying these solutions in practice. Skills taught using this methodology are much more suited to the challenges of the modern world, gearing children up for efficient functioning in adulthood, also when considering the future labour market.
Since January 2023, each primary school in Poland has free of charge access to a database of educational materials in Skriware Academy as well as to Skrimarket, a unique library of 3D models, together with 3D modelling tools: Creator and 3D Playground. The company also helps to fill out applications for co-financing life-science classrooms using the educational laboratory as offered.
Our prize winner participates in mentoring programmes for social entrepreneurs, helping them develop their projects and leadership skills. The company he runs has received numerous awards and distinctions, such as Financial Times 1000 (79th place in Europe), Deloitte Fast 50 (4th place in Poland), the Innovation Eagle, and Global Startup Education Awards (8th place in the world).
Karol is a member of the EdTech Poland Foundation Board appointed to support the development of the education and technology sector in Poland and produce conditions to exchange knowledge on business scaling between entrepreneurs.
He graduated from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
