§ 1
- These Rules and Regulations set forth the rules and procedure for awarding the “SGH Leader” alumni title.
- The competition is organised by the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, hereinafter referred to as “SGH.”
- The award is given out every year.
- Laureates receive a commemorative statuette and the perpetual right to use the awarded title. Names, surnames and biographical notes of laureates are publicly announced.
- Female laureates of the competition have the right to use the title obtained in the competition in the feminative form (in Polish), according to their preferences.
- Laureates are announced, and statuettes are handed out, during the SGH Celebration Day or other academic ceremony.
- The framework schedule for the given edition is set out by the Rector and published on the award’s website.
- For the purpose of these Regulations, an SGH graduate is a person who has completed master's, bachelor’s, doctoral studies, postgraduate studies, or who has been awarded an academic degree by SGH.
§ 2
- The award is given in the following categories:
- Alumni in Poland – graduates whose main place of professional activity is in Poland.
- Alumni abroad – graduates whose main place of professional activity is outside Poland.
- For each category referred to in Section 1, par.2, the award is granted in the fields of Science, Business, and Society.
- Achievements considered in jury's assesement cover a period of four years preceding the date of application.
- The following achievements are taken into account in the field of Science:
- participation as a leader in projects or initiatives related to science or combining science with business practice;
- five selected academic publications,
- national and international prizes and distinctions for activities in teaching and research;
- three selected and implemented research projects;
- a number of citations based on available bibliometric sources defining the achievements, such as Web of Science (WoS), SCOPUS, Hirsch index and other sources taking into account the specific nature of individual fields of science.
- The following achievements are taken into account in the field of Business:
- results achieved when serving management or expert functions in companies or business organisations;
- national and international prizes and distinctions received and original projects implemented;
- the candidate's or his/her company's involvement in the implementation of objectives related to changes that take into account the challenges of contemporary society and the economy (including AI, digital transformation, energy transformation, sustainable development/CSR/ESG, etc.).
- The following achievements are taken into account in the field of Society:
- actions taken in the role of a social or public leader to improve the quality of life of citizens, equalise opportunities, develop civil society or improve the functioning of the state in the areas of the economy, security, health or education, with the aim of improving the quality of life and the functioning of the state system.
- national or international awards and distinctions obtained by the candidate for the activities referred to above
- original projects implemented with the aim of solving significant social or public challenges.
- The award may be received only once.
§ 3
- Graduates of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, as defined in § 1(8), may be nominated for the title.
- SGH graduates who, on the date of application for the Competition, remain in an employment relationship with SGH y or perform work for it on the basis of civil law contracts of a continuous nature, concluded for a period longer than 30 days, are excluded from participation in the Competition.
- The right to submit candidates for the title is the right of all members of the SGH community, i.e. employees, students, PhD students, and graduates of SGH.
- The submission should include the following:
- Submitter’s forename and surname together with their role within the SGH community (employee, student, PhD student, graduate);
- Submitter’s contact details: e-mail address and telephone number;
- Candidate's forename and surname;
- Candidate’s contact details: e-mail address and telephone number;
- Candidate's consent drafted in line with the model consent form found on the initiative's website;
- Candidate's statement of citizenship and tax residence (in line with the model available on the competition’s website) – for candidates in the International Graduates category;
- a designation of the category (Polish Alumni or International Alumni) and field (Business, Science, or Society) for which the Candidate is submitted;
- reasons for submission including the list of achievements referred to in § 2(4)-(6), taking into account the timeframe referred to in § 2(3).
- Candidate submissions shall be made via the system available on the competition’s website (alumni-leaders.sgh.waw.pl) within the deadline set out in the schedule of the given edition.
§ 4
- The award is given out by the Jury sitting in the following panel:
- Rector - Chairman
- Vice-Rector for Development
- Vice-Rector for International Relations
- Vice-Rector for Research
- Chancellor
- Representative of the SGH Partners Club
- Director of the SGH Career and Alumni Centre – Secretary
- Each member of the Jury awards each candidate between 0 and 10 points for each type of achievement in a given area. The points are awarded by the members of the Jury, with the exception of the Chair. The role of the Chair is to approve the results of the evaluation and make the final decision on the outcome of the Competition.\
- The winner in a given category and area is the candidate who has received the highest number of points in the Jury's assessment. In the event of significant discrepancies in the assessments of individual members of the Jury or justified doubts raised by them, the Chair of the Jury makes a final assessment, which may result in a change in the final result.
- If candidates obtain the same highest number of points, the Chair of the Jury shall decide on the winner. The Chair of the Jury may also decide to award the title to more than one person in a given category and area.
- The Jury reserves the right not to award the title in a given category and area if none of the candidates obtains at least 60% of the maximum number of points available.
- Members of the Jury are obliged to maintain confidentiality regarding the analysed content of the applications, the work of the Jury and the results of the Competition.
§ 5
The decision of the Competition Jury, approved by the Chair of the Jury, is final and cannot be appealed.
