Iga Magda

Iga Magda, PhD, SGH Professor, stands out by successfully combining her exceptionally high level of academic activity with the role of a leader in economic practice.

In her everyday job in the Department of Economics I of the Collegium of Economic Analysis at SGH, she tries to convert the results of studies into economic and social policy suggestions dealing with reducing inequalities on the labour market, taking into account contemporary demographic changes and transformations in the world of labour, and also to popularise them among diverse audiences. She publishes the so-called “Policy Papers” (https://wol.iza.org/authors/iga-magda; https://ibs.org.pl/publications/jak-zwiekszyc-aktywnosc-zawodowa-kobiet-w-polsce/) and participates in expert meetings, public hearings and debates, supporting the activity of non-governmental organisations.

She is a leader in implementing research grants, of which she is currently managing three: “Why does she earn less? The progression of gender gaps in one’s early career”, “Working time flexibility, personality traits and gender pay gaps”, and “Youth Employment PartnerSHIP – evaluation studies in Spain, Hungary, Italy and Poland”.

She also leads the “System for Forecasting the Polish Labour Market” project, in which a model allowing to forecast medium- and long-term changes in the labour market, broken down by sectors, professions and regions, is being developed to suit the needs of the Ministry of Economic Development, Labour and Technology. Previously, she managed the “The Impact of the Support Offered to Young People under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development (PO.WER)” project conducted in 2015-2020 at the Institute for Structural Research on behalf of the then Ministry of Economic Development. The purpose of the project was to evaluate the effectiveness of support addressed to young people under the ESF.
